Mechanical Differential Pressure Indicator for Compressed Air Filter
A differential pressure indicator provides an indication of the pressure on the inlet and outlet sides of the filter element, thus alerting the operator to the condition of the filter. This enables a replacement filter to be installed before filter elements are bypassed. When a filter is clogged with particulates and other contaminants, the flow restriction through the element increases, resulting in reduced efficiency and increased energy consumption. These indicators must be read under a flow condition to get an accurate reading.
How It Works
✅ Sensing Pressure Difference:
A DPI is installed to measure the pressure on both sides of a device, such as a filter.
✅ Indicating Status:
As a filter traps contaminants, the resistance to flow increases, causing a higher differential pressure (∆P).
✅ Actuation:
When the ∆P reaches a certain pre-set level, the DPI's internal mechanism, like a piston/magnet assembly or a convoluted diaphragm, moves to activate an indicator.
✅ Visual Output:
The indicator is a visual cue, like a read button to a specific zone.
